1. Agreement and eligibility

By creating an account, subscribing to or using ScopeLock, you agree to these Terms of Service. You must be legally capable of entering this agreement and authorised to act for the business that uses the account. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

2. Accounts and accurate information

You are responsible for accurate account and business information, protecting login credentials, controlling authorised access and promptly telling ScopeLock about suspected misuse. You are responsible for activity carried out through your account except to the extent caused by ScopeLock's own failure to exercise reasonable care.

3. Permitted business use

ScopeLock may be used for legitimate business recordkeeping, variation approvals, service communications and evidence exports. You must not misuse the service, interfere with its operation, evade usage controls, probe other accounts, upload unlawful or malicious material, send spam, impersonate another person or use ScopeLock to infringe rights or break the law.

4. Customer information and permissions

You remain responsible for the customer information and content you submit. You must have appropriate authority, notices and permissions to enter names, contact details, property addresses, contract information, signatures, photos and other files, and to send approval requests or reminders to recipients.

5. What ScopeLock does

ScopeLock is a recordkeeping and electronic approval tool. It helps contractors document scope, price, timing, signatures, decisions and supporting evidence. It does not provide legal advice, replace the underlying contract or guarantee that a variation is enforceable, that an electronic signature will have a particular legal effect, or that a record will resolve a dispute.

You and your customer are responsible for reviewing the record, obtaining advice where needed and deciding whether the electronic method is appropriate for the contract and applicable law.

6. Subscription and billing

The current ScopeLock Business subscription is A$49 AUD per month, billed monthly through Stripe. It renews automatically each month until cancelled. Stripe Checkout shows the total before purchase.

Cancel before the next renewal through the Stripe customer billing portal when that option is available, or contact [email protected] for assistance. ScopeLock's intended cancellation setup keeps paid access available until the end of the already-paid billing period. The Stripe portal displays the effective date before confirmation; if it shows a different outcome, contact support before completing the action. See Refunds & Cancellations.

7. Suspension and termination

ScopeLock may restrict, suspend or terminate an account where reasonably necessary for non-payment, security, unlawful use, serious misuse or protection of the service and other users. Where practicable, ScopeLock will provide notice and a reasonable opportunity to address the issue before termination.

You may stop using the service, cancel a subscription and request account deletion subject to the implemented ownership, evidence, billing and retention process. When an account or service is terminated, the right to create or send new work ends, amounts already due remain payable, and information is handled under the Data Storage & Deletion process. Download important records before terminating access where possible.

8. Availability and service changes

ScopeLock may maintain, change or discontinue features as the product develops. Continuous or error-free availability is not guaranteed. ScopeLock will take reasonable care in providing the service and will avoid materially reducing a paid service without appropriate notice where practicable.

9. Important records

You should download and retain important signed PDF evidence packs, approvals and accounting exports in your own business records. ScopeLock is not a substitute for your own recordkeeping, business-continuity or professional-advice processes.

10. Intellectual property and customer content

ScopeLock and its software, design, branding and documentation remain the property of the operator or its licensors. You retain ownership of content you submit. You grant ScopeLock a limited permission to host, copy, process, transmit and generate outputs from that content only as needed to provide, secure, support and lawfully operate the service.

11. Liability and Australian Consumer Law

Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or modifies rights, guarantees, remedies or liabilities that cannot lawfully be excluded, including applicable rights under the Australian Consumer Law.

To the extent permitted by law, each party is responsible for losses that are reasonably foreseeable and caused by its breach, negligence or unlawful conduct. ScopeLock is not responsible for a party's underlying contract, business decisions, unauthorised content, failure to keep independent records, or outcomes that the service does not promise. Any limitation applies only to the extent it is lawful and reasonable in the circumstances.

12. Governing law

These terms are governed by applicable Commonwealth laws of Australia and the laws of the Australian state or territory in which the ScopeLock operator is established. Courts with jurisdiction under those laws may hear disputes. This wording does not prevent either party from using rights or forums available under mandatory law.

13. Changes and contact

Updated terms will be published with a revised date. Material changes may also be communicated through the service or account contact details where appropriate. Questions can be sent to [email protected].
