Tradify
Tradify's answer to a variation is the quote, again.
Tradify has no variation feature as such. What it has is a clean revise-and-resend quote flow — revise the quote, the customer accepts online or signs on your screen. That's the right tool for a change the customer formally requested. The extras that actually cost tradies money rarely arrive formally. Here's the flow, and where it stops.
Revise and resend the quote Online acceptance on Pro up Signature saved to the quote
Where we stand: we build ScopeLock, a variation-approval tool for Australian trades, and we say where that creates a bias. Every Tradify detail below comes from Tradify's own help centre, read on 24 August 2026 and linked at the bottom.
01 — The short version
The change goes back through the quote.
When the scope moves in Tradify, the quote moves: open it, revise it, resend it. The customer can accept online (a Pro-and-above feature, with Tradify's genuinely good automated reminders at 7 and 14 days and 3 days before expiry), or they can sign in person on your phone or tablet. There's no separate variation record on the job — the revised quote is the record.
For a formal change — “we've decided to go with the bigger unit” — that's exactly the right shape. This page is about the other shape: the “while you're here, can you just” at 2pm on a Tuesday, where stopping to revise and resend a quote loses to getting on with it every single time.
02 — The signature flow
Accept, sign on screen, saved to the quote.
Find the quote
In the app, go to the Sales page and open the quote the customer is accepting (it sits under Awaiting Acceptance).
Response → Accept
Select Response, then Accept, and confirm. Tradify's prompt then asks: “Do you want the customer to sign this quote?”
Hand them the phone
Tap Yes, confirm the customer name, and the customer signs on your screen. Tap Done.
It rides on the quote
The signature is saved and appears on the quote when it's emailed or printed — a signed quote, not a standalone variation record.
03 — Where it stops
Three places the flow doesn't reach.
The informal extra
Nobody revises a quote for two extra downlights. The flow starts at the desktop version of the job, and the informal extra is precisely the work that gets done on a nod and never invoiced.
Anywhere without signal
Tradify's own help centre says it plainly: neither the Web Console nor the Mobile App works offline — both depend on a live internet connection. Under a house on one bar, the revision waits.
The variation-shaped record
A signed revised quote proves the quote was accepted. It doesn't give you a standalone variation — scope change, price, time impact, photos and both signatures in one timestamped record against the job.
04 — The combination that works
Quote in Tradify. Sign the extras in the moment.
Bias declared — this is the corner ScopeLock occupies. Run the job in Tradify: quote, revise, invoice, chase. When the informal extra lands, price it in ScopeLock in about a minute, the customer signs on their own phone from a link (no account, no app), and you both keep a signed PDF. It works offline — write it with no signal and it sends itself when you're back in coverage — and it's free under A$500. Tradify runs the job; the extras get signed anyway.
Straight answers
Questions people actually ask.
Does Tradify have a variations feature?
No dedicated one. The mechanism for changed scope is revising and resending the quote; the customer accepts online (Pro and above) or signs on your screen, and the signature is saved onto the quote. There's no distinct variation record against an existing job the way a purpose-built variation holds scope, price, time impact and both signatures.
Can a customer sign on site in Tradify?
Yes. Open the quote under Awaiting Acceptance, select Response → Accept, and Tradify asks whether the customer wants to sign — they sign on your screen and the signature appears on the quote when it's emailed or printed. The flow is documented in Tradify's help centre.
Does Tradify work offline?
No. Tradify's help centre states that neither the Web Console nor the Mobile App works offline — both depend on a live internet connection. If your variations regularly happen in basements, roof spaces or rural properties, you'll want a signing step that queues without signal, whatever you run your jobs in.
What happens to the signature afterwards?
It's saved against the quote and shown on the quote PDF when emailed or printed. That's a signed acceptance of the whole (revised) quote — different from a variation-level record that separates the change, its price and both parties' signatures from the original scope.

Where these answers came from.
Vendor screens and features are taken from each publisher's own website or help centre on the date shown. Nothing here is sponsored and no vendor has reviewed this page.
If something's changed, tell us and we'll fix it — an out-of-date guide is worse than none.
The next one's coming
The next “can you just” is already on its way.
Price it on your phone, they sign on theirs, you both keep the PDF. Under A$500 it costs you nothing, ever.
No card, no trial clock. Your customer doesn't need an account.
